The Northman

The Northman, as quoted from Robert Eggers himself, is "Viking Hamlet." In one article from IGN, Eggers explains the ties between his movie and the Shakespearean play - the character comparisons, the similar revenge plot and the supernatural elements. If this fresh, savage take on Hamlet doesn't excite the average viewer, then maybe the star-studded cast will - Ethan Hawk, Alexander Skarsgård, Nicole Kidman, Anya Taylor Joy and Bjork, to name a few!

Where the Crawdads Sing
Release Date: July 15, 2022
The novel - by Delia Owens - of the same name has been adapted for the big screen and is set to hit theaters in a few months! The book's protagonist, Kya, will be played by Daisy Edgar Jones, best known for her role as Marianne from Normal People on Hulu. The story tells of a North Carolinian "swamp girl" from the 1950s who is orphaned and forced to raise and provide for herself using the resources around her. It has elements of self-reliance, love and murder.

Daisy Jones & the Six
Release date: End of 2022
Daisy Jones & the Six, by Taylor Jenkins Reid is being adapted into a 12-part tv series by Amazon Prime and produced by Reese Witherspoon. The story follows a rock band from the 70s as they maneuver friendship, love and all the drama that accompanies stardom. Reid initially said in an Oprah Daily article that the romance between the main characters was inspired by Fleetwood Mac's Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham. A few notable names from this screen adaptation are Sam Clafin from The Hunger Games and Suki Waterhouse.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

The second novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid to be adapted for the screen is The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. This movie adaptation was recently announced and is alleged to be in the works with Netflix. It is the life story of fictional movie star, Evelyn Hugo, and her tales of stardom, scandal and yes, her seven husbands. Told by Hugo herself to a no-name reporter she chooses for reasons yet unknown, her life story is captivating and surprising. While Hugo's decision to employ reporter Monique Grant is unclear in the beginning, the audience soon realizes Hugo's reason is calculated and connected in unexpected ways.

Hush, Hush

Hush, Hush, by Becca Fitzpatrick has been in the works for a screen adaptation since early 2018. It will be released on Paramount+ and is currently in production with Nickelodeon. This book was initially released in 2009 and is a paranormal YA romance novel about high-schooler Nora who falls in love with dark and brooding Patch. As one can guess from the cover of the book, Patch is revealed to be a fallen angel, and Nora finds herself thrown into a chaotic rift between angels and immortals. This book is one of four in the Hush, Hush series.

Finlay Donovan is Killing It
Release date: TBA
It was announced less than a week after being published that Finlay Donovan is Killing It: A Mystery, by Elle Cosimano will be adapted into a tv show by 20th Television Studios. There has been no official release date and no announcements on casting yet. However, director Marlene King was added to the project in early 2021. This story follows writer and single mom, Finlay, as she accepts a murder-for-hire position to kill another woman's husband.
